Yes, enrollment in a training program is required for participation in our structured daycare program at Houston DogWorks. This ensures a smooth-running program for all of our furry friends. • Why don't you post more daycare and dogs playing photos on social media?
You might be wondering why you don't see tons of cute dog pics from us on social media. Here's the scoop: Focus on Fun, Not Photos: Our top priority is giving your furry friend the best possible daycare and training experience. That means keeping a watchful eye and engaging them throughout the day, not chasing the perfect photo op. More Than Daycare: Houston DogWorks offers a variety of training programs beyond daycare. While we love showing off our adorable daycare pups, we want to ensure our social media reflects the full range of services we provide. Here's the breakdown by age: Puppies under 6 months: If your puppy is enrolled in our "Power Puppy" training program specifically designed for pups under 6 months, then yes, they can attend structured daycare even if they aren't fully housebroken. Dogs over 6 months: For dogs over 6 months old who are still experiencing accidents, participation in structured daycare will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. This assessment helps us determine if our program is a good fit for your dog's specific needs and ensures a smooth experience for all the furry daycare participants.
  • Does my dog need to be fixed to participate in structured daycare?
No - we are firm believers in allowing dogs to FULLY mature, both physically and mentally, and do not require dogs be altered.
  • How much time will my dog spend outside playing?
Because we’re in Houston, beyond toileting outdoors, most daycare activities take place inside the training room. This allows us to avoid any possible overheating issues as well as any unsupervised interactions.
  • What are the vaccination requirements for structured daycare?
We require that dogs be current on their Rabies or be able to show a titer reflecting immunity as well as DHPP. This is no different than our training requirements.
  • Will my dog get to play with other dogs while at your dog daycare?
Yes, in accordance with what is appropriate for where your dog is in their training journey, what other client dogs are in attendance for the day, as well as other factors.
  • How do you ensure the safety of the dogs in structured daycare?
No different than people, not every dog is going to like every other dog they encounter. We are careful in the selection of play groups to match play styles, energy levels, and are also sure to always incorporate either some of our personal or advanced client dogs who also assist in maintaining appropriate social interactions and practices. Role models are important for dogs too!
  • What kind of activities do dogs participate in during structured daycare?
  • What if my dog has special needs or requires medication?
Due to the fact that we will already know this ahead of time via our training programs, it should not pose an issue, but please remind staff if you begin to use this service.
